FAQs

How do I remove the rubber boot from my thermometer?

We recommend you take your thermometer in both hands with your thumbs at the top of either side of the face opening of the boot. Push your thumbs upwards, so that you are peeling the boot over the top of the thermometer.

How do I Install/replace the battery in my thermometer?

Installing and or Replacing the battery is very easy. Simply remove the rubber boot, open the battery compartment in the back of the thermometer, remove the battery and replace with a new one.

How do I fit the rubber boot on my thermometer?

Your thermometer needs to be slid bottom first in to the base of the boot. Then I would recommend that you insert your index finger through the rear window of the boot and push the front lip of the boot upwards in multiple places along the lip. Once you have manipulated the boot a litle bit you should be able to push the thermometer down until it slips in.

How often should I have my thermometer re-calibrated?

TME recommends that you have your thermometer re-calibrated annually

How do I test the calibration of my thermometer?

To test the calibration of your thermometer yourself, prepare a solution of ice and water, and insert your probe into it. Your thermometer should read 0°C. If it is out of calibration, firstly try using a different probe, just in case it is your probe that is faulty, and if that doesn't make a difference, contact us for advice you may need to send your thermometer back for a repair/calibration.

What does 'self-calibrating' mean?

All our instruments have a voltage reference, and they use this to check their own calibration 'Self-Calibrating'. However although this gives us excellent long term stability for many customers they also require an annual calibration check or certificate to external sources.

I need different temperature points on my calibration certificate - what can I do?

To the right of the product photographs there is a section where you can add a four temperature point certificate to your order. Simply click on 'Add UKAS Traceable Calibration' and tick one of the three choices. This will reveal the area for selecting your four points.

I need more than four points on my calibration certificate, is this possible?

Yes it is possible. We will need you to contact us on either 01903 700651, via email - sales@tmethermometers.com or via the Chat with Us option that is located on the bottom left hand corner of each website page. Please note there will be an additional charge for extra points - as at April 2024 this cost is £10 per addtional point.
